In the late 1980’s, a small group of people felt the call to plant a Spirit filled Church in Reese Michigan. This area was chosen due to there being no Spirit Filled Church in this town. This Church was planted and given the name Crossway Assembly of God. The first Pastor and his wife (The Hyers) relocated to Reese to Pastor the Church and to start reaching the great people of their community. After meeting in several locations within Reese, plans were put into place to start building the Churches first facility. The facility was designed and built, mostly by people of the congregation, debt free.
In the late 90’s early 2000’s, Pastor Hyer and his wife retired and Pastor Oliver and his wife were appointed as the new Lead Pastors of Crossway Assembly of God where they remained for 12 years.
Crossway Assembly of God was in a period of transition, and without a Pastor, for almost 3 years. Attendance had dwindled drastically and things looked bleak. In December of 2017 God started putting His Plan and handy work into place.
In August of 2018, for the first time in 3 years, Jon and Katie Terry were appointed as the new Lead Pastors of Crossway Assembly of God. Pastor Jon and Katie had been ministering in the Thumb area for 4 years. Pastor Jon was from the Lapeer area and he and his wife Katie loved the great state of Michigan and desired to see the Thumb Region on fire for Jesus Christ.
After some much needed prayer and vision casting, Crossway Assembly of God changed their Church name to New Hope Alive in 2019. This once dwindling congregation now has a Nursery Ministry, Kids and Teen ministries as well as a Men’s and Woman’s ministry. The Year 2020 was a difficult time for all due to COVID 19. All churches in the state were closed along with almost all business. In May 2020 the Terry's moved to Florida to a new ministry opportunity.
Pastor Curt and Lisa Lapham, currently the pastor of River of Life A/G in Tuscola, MI and numerous members of the church in Tuscola, joined New Hope Alive to keep the mission Christ has for the church in Reese moving forward.
New Hope Alive desire is to help all grow closer to the Lord and to experience the transformative power of Jesus Christ. We desire to to be a hospital for the broken and lost and for Jesus to be lifted high.
